A quieter week this week here in Pukekohe; we are staying until we do our COF early August, then the current plan is to head towards Lake Karapiro but this could potentially change as we are coddiwompling, so meandering our way towards a vague destination.
All is well; Mac and Rose have settled in and now consider the park their territory and they seem to enjoy the kids sports on the weekends, so lots of action for them to keep amused. The grounds have dried out which is a plus. Rod appears to be enjoying the comradeship with some of the old codgers currently residing here (one of whom is another old salt – ex Navy) and they spend lots and lots and lots of time gas-bagging like old women and setting the word to rights.
We have enjoyed friends checking in with us so know we are not forgotten; appreciate the contact guys, thank you!! Jonathan popped in for a coffee this morning with a relative and Emma is coming for the day next week so we don’t feel isolated while we are away!! (sadly the visit was cancelled….missed you Em!!
We have really got to grips with living in the 5th wheeler, enjoying amazing meals and I have started baking again which is not so great for the waistline but nice to enjoy home baking for a change, still adapting to a gas cooker so a bit hit and miss temperature-wise. Still; a work in progress!!
Went to Pokeno Bacon for sausages and bacon, the sausages were so delicious so will take a walk there before we leave.
So……..lockdown level three happened here in the big smoke. We decided not to leave while we could; access to supermarkets, vets, laundry etc and knowing our location were important to planning for lockdown level 3.
We spent the weeks keeping in our bubble, grocery shopping, the odd takeout delivery the only outside contact apart from the fabulous Mad Tech installing a diesel heater in preparation for heading south post-lockdown…..
Mac and Rose continued to enjoy the location – 75 acres of paddocks etc, lots of rabbits to chase……the only downside was the rain and the constant mud around the RV during lockdown, thank goodness for pallets to build a platform….over the mud!!!

We spent time with some great people, increasing our RV network; Irene and Graeme, Hank and Pi, Darryl and Claudia, you made our time in lockdown more fun and interesting. We look forward to meeting up on the road again!!
We ended lockdown with a happy hour where we enjoyed a drinks and a laugh before heading off to bed and farewelling Pukekohe the following morning Taupo-bound with a stop at Tokoroa for a pee and pie and are now safely parked up at the National Equestrian Centre.
We were met by Steve and Janine and the fabulous Master Mulligan II who is just gorgeous!!!
We will be staying here to attend our first 5th Rally starting 3rd September….looking forward to having fun instead of waiting for lockdown levels to reduce so we could legitimately move on……
