18 months since the last posted article. Firstly we have been slack and secondly the site went down due to being hacked. This needed some time to repair and direct access to the server.
Donna did write an installment 12 months ago but this was lost when the the site went down. Unfortunately we lost the content as we had to use an earlier backup.
I am not going into detail of our last 18 months other than to say it was the same but different.
We wintered over up north at Tauranga Bay staying for over 5 months. Great spot but one has to say when you live in the sand and salt then the maintenance goes up. We love the camp and the fishing especially now with the latest addition to the truck.
After the winter break we moved back into our home. We had been on the road since October 2019 with short period at home for the first COVID lockdown. Let the work begin!!!
We invested in new furniture and appliances and spent a lot of energy reclaiming our space.
We took time to enjoy being home and the space. Yah for three toilets, a super king bed and dog doors.
Got time to review health matters and sought out future medical events that are part of being in the “infancy of older age”.
Mac and Rose moved straight back into their old routine. Mac even found some of his old bones.
Being on the road for an extended period ment there was a lot of maintenance required on the truck and the 5th wheeler to bring them up to scratch. The truck was soda blasted and undersealed and the 5th was taken back to steel and rust proofed, painted and under sealed. We had a nagging issue with a leak around one window in the slide-out which got dealt to big time.
We have done some small trips on the road since arriving home. Two of them were farm/house sitting for friends we had met since while on the road.
The first saw us parked in a paddock for the Auckland Anniversary rain and the second we had to detour to avoid the Brynderwyns closure. Neither were a great deal but did highlight the bugger moments of being on the road.
All good back in control at home and managed a road trip to Taupo. Hmm good start – to bloody cold. Have finally run away again for a month to Long Bay motor camp Coromandel. Great prep for the trip and all went well. Only problem was the ground was a tad wet (who said it had been raining since February) but all good – settled in to the routine as though we hadn’t taken time out.
Over and out – lets hope we do not let it slip another 18 months.
