The Montana 3120RL with the Legacy Package is a high-end fifth wheel classified as 4 seasons permanent living RV known for its luxurious features and enhanced towing capabilities. Key highlights of the Legacy Package include upgrades like a rear fiberglass rear cap, and a camera system for observation and blind spot monitoring. It also includes convenience features such as the In-Command control system, Onan 5.4 kWh LPG generator and a built-in surge protector.

The floor area of the 3120RL is 31.52 meters. (The Wikipedia definition of a Tiny Home is a dwelling less than 372 Meters.) To assist the heating/cooling and cleaning the inclusion from factory of a LPG heated ducted air, Dometic heat pump/air-conditioning (requires the generator operating), 12v ceiling fan with summer winter setting, two Maxx air exhaust fans and a central vacuum system. Post manufacture a Westabo Diesel heater has been fitted.
Comfort and entertainment are provided by the inclusion of electric reclining chairs with massage and heating, a 50-inch TV in the lounge and a 32-inch TV in the bedroom, three distributed speaker zones including under the front awning, internal/external led lighting manually switched by switches or remotely controlled via the In-Command control system.
The queen size bed has storage under the bed head and under the foot of the bed. We utilized the storage under the head of the bed to store our seasonal change clothing. The couch folds out to a sofa bed making up the containment of 4 people.
Fully off grid living is achieved with the installed Solar System, the LPG generator and washing machine. The solar system, associated battery back up and invertors are all locally acquired. (We had a failure of overseas acquired product – not cost effective in an emergency) 1280 watts of solar panels are mounted on the roof charging two 24 volt 200 Ahr batteries. The batteries are also charged by the generator at 90 amps. Charging is also achieved via a double isolated battery charger meaning system is not directly connected to the 230V grid.
The truck has been fitted with two 500 litre tanks one for the waste water and the other for fresh water. When the onboard waste tanks require to be emptied a macerator pump transfers the waste to the truck tank and emptied at designated dump station which generally incorporates a potable water filling point. The fresh water tank on the truck is filled and when returning to the camp pumped into the RV fresh water tank. (Note – care must be taken at all times to ensure that cross contamination is avoided at all times.) This set up allows the 5th wheel to be parked in remote locations without requiring to be moved during long stay periods. We spent over 6 months parked at a beach during winter months.
The truck has hydraulic crane fitted with incorporated winch. The crane is used to primarily to load the boat onto the roof rack for transportation. A removable bracket is fitted onto the truck deck for the outboard motor. (Included in the photo’s is a picture of the motor on the bracket dismounted from the truck)
